Day 74-Thanks for tagging along
- Sep 6, 2001Day 74--Thanks for tagging along
Thanks to all of you for tagging along. Thanks for
all the wonderful messages and notes that so many of
you sent during the 73 days. It was like having you
each with me as traveling companions.
By the way Jonathon...my bags made the entire trip.
Not sure about all those packages I mailed. That I
may never know because I didn't keep accurate records
when I sent them.
Day 73...walk to Eiffel Tower one last time to watch
the sunrise on it To walk across the Seine and view
the vastness of Paris one more morning.
Truly a beautiful and wonderful experience again.
Off to buy morning French pastries for breakfast and
check out of my hotel, my last hotel this trip.
Just walking from my hotel on Saint Dominique the 4 or
5 blocks to the base Eiffel Tower I probably gained a
few pounds from the fantastic smells of the freshly
baked or baking French pastries and breads to be sold
beginning at 7:00 am. An almond crepe like
pastry....deliciously mouth melting joy and a cinamon
and raisin roll...both just out of the shop's loving
ovens.
7:55 off by van to de Gaulle International Airport. I
chose to spoil myself and spend 150 francs to travel
on and above ground to the airport passing by so many
of the sites I had not seen in my four day visit to
Paris instead of dragging/carrying/lugging/totting my
two bags and my day bag onto the two different trains
up and down stair after stair to ride for free
(already paid for tickets or passes).
After wandering around the Duty Free (not necessarily
cheaper) shops to decide how to spend my remaining
French Francs...that will be useless after Europe
converts to the Euro next year I went to my gate for
my long flight to Charlotte. Once again I watched,
Animal... with Ashley Judd and Crocodile Dundee in LA
and reruns of Fraiser programs. US Airways is so
creative with their movie selections.
Touch down in Charlotte...one Cinamon bun later (good
but not the same as this morning's) off to Athens and
the end of my 73 day wandering journey around the
world.
Thank you all again for your interest, support and
caring.
Best wishes to all of you. May your realities always
surpass your wildest dreams.
With love and appreciation
Wandering Alan
