Life is a Creative Journey, Not Just a Guided Tour
In 2001 I went on my first trip completely around the globe.
The idea sparked in September of 2000 and from Sept to the following June I researched and planned the trip covering all the details.
I have created this blog to share the adventure or actually around 100 days of adventures through my Yahoo Posts beginning in New Zealand in June through to my final day in Paris before coming home.
I will be including my Yahoo Posts and a mixture of the photos I took during the trip.
My working title for the book has been
"Life is a Creative Journey,
Not Just a Guided Tour"
for the past 16 years.
I worked on the original book daily for over
a month and generated over 75,000 words to be added to the over
30,000 written daily the trip in the summer of 2001.
I participated in a workshop on writing for publication in a March of 2002 that Chris Clark-Epstein put on for the Georgia Chapter of the National Speakers Association at a resort in Georgia outside of Atlanta. My purpose was learning more about how to get the book published.
I also scheduled to attend her often writing partner, C. Leslie Charles 2 to 3 months later at the NSA Headquarters in Tempe, Arizona.
My current plan is to work on each daily post, one per day to draft a new version of the book.
If you would be interested in reading portions of it let me know and I can
serialize it and send it to you via this group.
The 150,000 word (rough draft) version that I completed by June 2002 I then worked on a book proposal to begin sending to agents and/or publishers. When I completed the process that C. Leslie Charles taught us I realized the book I had actually written in draft form was not the book I had initially intended to write.
Instead of being an interesting book about WHO, WHY, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW I traveled those 100+ days it became a self-help book using world travel as the metaphor.
I had not intended of writing that type of book but I got so into using formulas and daily compulsive writing the book took over and it flowed through me without me noticing what was happening over those weeks.
(proposed cover photo. These are photos that friends, colleagues, some fellow travelers or strangers took of me during my trip.)
